Bookcase For All provides books to the homeless and vulnerable across York and North Yorkshire. We also offer books to schools, community groups and organisations to help improve access to books.
We all know that books provide escapism for people, and reading is a lovely way to pass the time. Therefore in February 2018 we were looking to donate books to the homeless in York, however we found there was no specific place where the vulnerable could get books, so Bookcase For All was born.
Our aim is give those who need it access to books. Not everyone feels comfortable entering libraries and with life on the streets hard enough we never ask people to bring books back. They are given freely and without any expectations.
